I let me brother & sister in law stay at my house while on my honeymoon with the wife and when we returned i had some deep nail scratches on my headboard from their pitbull that was sleeping on my bed with them, ya i know, i wanted to kill them!!! I was just wondering if i could sand, bondo, prep, & paint the wood like you would a car! Anyone know?
I use bondo a lot on exterior wood to repair rot. I have used the minwax wood filler but its no better and twice the price. For interior projects like your headboard I use spackle because its easier to sand. As far as I know , none of my bondo repairs have failed.

I know you can mix woods but should the headboard match the night stands?
They don’t have to match but they need to coordinate or relate in some way. Sounds like there might be a bit too much contrast here. Are the styles the same? You could consider painting or staining the nightstands a darker color for a more cohesive look.
I am re doing my room and I want an upholstered headboard with a dark wood frame (like Miley Cyrus’ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1rTJoP-BMw )
anyone KNOW where i can find one?
i’ve looked at pb, pb teen, ikea, target, and havertys.
Here is one that’s very close-

For this project we took a plain white Ikea cabinet (made from timber), primed it up with Rust-Oleum Surface Primer (white) and gave it a couple of coats of Rust-Oleum Painter’s Touch Berry Pink spray paint. The funky, gloss finish is fit for the little princess in your life! Why not try the paint on picture frames, headboards etc? For more ideas and inspiration, please visit www.rustoleumspraypaint.com

I have a very old dresser which is real wood, and a headboard which I think is some sort of fake wood (its smooth on it’s surface) black to match each other. I am thinking something semi-gloss or glossy. I don’t want things to stick to it as the dresser has my TV on top of it, and the headboard is sort of like a bookshelf, so if non-glossy would be better I would go for that too. I think the old dresser is stained and is kind of "soft" when I scratch it with my nail. I’m looking for suggestions on prep and type of paint to use, and as easy a process as possible. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just look put together. Thanks!
Also, I have a papasan (round) chair that I might eventually paint to match. Would spray paint be my best bet for the frame? I believe it is a sort of wicker.
Yeah, just run down to your local K-Mart get you some Krylon Gloss Black, and go for it. Don’t use flat, it’ll pick up all kinds of dust n junk.
