HELP, I NEED TO BUDGET and MAKE MY HOME LOOK FAB!!?
I am moving into a 3 bedroom, 2 livingroom, 1 sunroom, 2 bath house, in one month, I need to budget and dec. my house for a possible house warming in about 2 months…. I NEED some good tips on decorating…..with a budget.
Congrats on your new home !
Unfortunately it’s very difficult to offer advice without knowing your particular tastes and or the type of home you will move in to. I mean personally I prefer a modern open concept..minimalistic and white. You on the other hand may prefer classic Victorian.
Anyway, I can suggest you purchase Architectural Digest (AD) magazine and similar type magazines for references. You can buy these at book stores each month and even find specific editions dedicated to YOUR taste.

hey,
decorating on a budget, sounds like DIY jobs….
1. you can decorate easily by buying items from second hand stores. this is not shabby, if you pick the right things.
2. discounts can be made if you shop at direct factory outlets, this skips the middle man, saves you money.
3. maybe the markets, this is cheap home items that are unique and dont cost a fortune.
4. Garage sales, you can always find treasures.
5. DIY jobs, if you are creative, can sew, have a lot of time and manpower then do it up yourself. make your own curtains, make your own cusions etc. anything like this takes time though.
6. a good idea is when you have the party, try to limit the rooms people will go into, this limits the amount of decorating you will need to do.
7. homewarming parties are awesome, means gifts too. so when its all over, you should have a great mess! lol, but dont forget the music, good music, soft, and not so high because people want to be able to have conversations, but enough to feel relaxed.
- dont let people smoke in the house, others might not like it, might feel sick, and the smoke can clog up the environment and make it feel really gross. also stinks, looks bad, and smell bad. also ruin anything it touches.
- good lighting, very important, it sets the mood. as does the colours you choose.
green, browns, and greys- like earthy colours
reds, yellows and pinks- retro styles
light pastels, whites, creams and lemons- country or shabby chic
blues and whites or off whites- relaxing and calming (also taupe)
blacks and dark colours- cosy feel, smaller the room appears.
have pleanty of places to sit, and the one thing i think is the worst problem at some parties, drinks. i always find tons of food, and no drinks.
anyways i hope i gave you some ideas. good luck.

The best advice I can give is to suggest that you not fill the house with stuff just to have stuff in a room. So many people have multiple tables or chairs in a room just because they feel the room is lacking something. Be patient and put in your new home only what you really love. Keep everything clean and simple. A nice throw on the couch, a perfectly placed picture hung, just the right lamp set on a table. Paint color is vital, whatever color you choose, make it work for you with the items you have in that particular room. Use doorways and windows as frames looking toward a view you want to see. Your home will look great! Enjoy it and be patient, Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither will your home be decorated in one.

All the above were great ideas! I also have an additional suggestion. I am a rep for a home decor company and have helped many people on a budget.
Companies such as mine (and there are a few different ones) offer host benefits for a certain amount of sales, meaning free and reduced price product. Typically, this involves an in home or catalog party but I have done it for individual purchases that meet the necessary threshhold. I would imagine other reps would do the same as well.
In addition, I offer housewarming parties and catalog shows that work much in the way a bridal registry does.
I would be happy to discuss these with you and can also provide you with the names of other companies as well, to ensure you find things to suit your style. Please feel free to contact me!
