Have you ever "made" your own furniture? I am building my own bed frame-any suggestions? Clean & easy.

I have a some country french with rustic ivory stained cherry wood..
Wow, good wood! well you have to take in the bed size, frame at least 1 inch clearance on both side and same from end to end. Cherry wood splits easily so be careful use dowels or metal hangers for construction. I would find a blue print design that would give the right measurements for the bed, king ,queen, etc. The natural beauty of the wood should really come out nice, plan it carefully.
well if you can desinge your own little vine up the post you might want to do that if not go a little easyier stain i twith it’s natural color then wait a hour then do it again have your bed stained dark after carving

If you have the skill. use mortise and tenon joints, secured by wood pegs. This reflects skill, as opposed to just using hardware.

I built two bed frames. The most important thing to remember is to make it sturdy and easy to disassemble. Mine bolts together with carriage head bolts and the headboard has book shelves and a hidden trap door. As for how to finish it, you should judge your own skills for what you can do.
